Movements
Quartz watches
A quartz movement offers ultimate precision. It can vary by one minute per year.
The life of a battery can vary between 2 and 6 years, depending on the model. Most of our quartz watches featuring a centre-seconds hand are equipped with an end-of-life battery-warning indicator (EOL). The centre seconds hand jumps every four seconds to indicate that the battery is running low approximately two weeks before battery replacement is necessary.
! Only an authorized Baume & Mercier retailer or After-Sales Service Centre is entitled to carry out battery replacements in order to ensure that the battery and other tests meet the quality standards laid down by Baume & Mercier. The International and Limited Baume & Mercier Guarantee may apply only if these conditions are met.
Hand-wound mechanical watches
Set the crown in position 1. Turn the crown clockwise to manually wind the watch. The watch is fully wound when the crown provides resistance.
A fully wound watch has a power-reserve of approximately 40 hours without being worn. Beyond this time, the watch will stop. You will then need to rewind it manually by turning the crown clockwise (approximately 20 turns) to provide it with the necessary power reserve.
Do not wind a mechanical watch beyond the aforementioned resistance point.
The mechanical movement is the symbol of complex and traditional technical skill. In order to guarantee the watch's optimum precision, it is advisable to wind it regularly, once a day.
Mechanical watches with automatic winding
A watch fitted with an automatic winding movement is rewound by the regular movements of your wrist. Therefore, the watch strap or bracelet should be correctly adjusted to your wrist. A loose fitting bracelet or strap may result in a loss of autonomy, as the watch is prevented from winding itself automatically. You should wear your watch everyday to ensure optimum rewinding.
